MP3 sample: The mirror will tell
January 2002 : It’s been six years since Robert and Mark started their first projects. Basically the two [guitars] had trouble finding bass and drums, not to mention vocals. Over the years several people and a few bandnames (Shaft, Queer) passed by, when they ultimately found Guus [drums]: this very beginning contained loud music and scorched vocals (Robert). Soon, their music would involve more dynamics, melody and strenght. In order to extend their musical ambitions, their search for a vocal-frontman ended up in former SeeUs member Rene. At this point, still in abcense of bass, the band (Saliva) only played a few shows. In their everlasting search for a bass player Mark approached Dennis [bass]. In this period of time their music slowly shaped into what is happening today. Since the band sensed certain progress and found themselves more and more convenient with their music, they felt the urgency of finding new vocals. Although a demo was recorded (vocals: Iwan), all attempts to find decent vocals seemed to fail. Finally, after years of musical ambition, experience and enthusiasm the band is set to start when Robert, Mark, Guus and Dennis meet their [vocalist], Rai. He previously did vocals on Downforce and conQbine. It’s safe to say all five found each other music-wise and are very determined. In this new skin the band started to restyle old songs, which immediately lead to writing and composing new songs under a new name: Rapid Notion.
Their music exposes the range of today’s life. Fast, quiet, slow, heavy, it all changes in a sec... and so their guitars drift from heavy layers into subtile chorus-like acoustic dimensions, vocals swift from aggressive punk-wise into warm romance, drums that structure the intense songs by using old school beats (hiphop, triphop, drum n’ bass) just to roll in on a bombastic outburst.
Today, it takes a Rapid Notion...
