That was the sign to lift that stonerrock-project in a nice suit. Niels was recruited, together with long-time friend Marc Fien, who had already done some session-work for CI before. Sand was the most suitable name they could come up with. They could finally start working on those ideas that they collected the two years before. After some rehearsing they recorded the well received demo Transhuman Entity in January 2001.
But after a few gigs, Niels decided to leave and focus more on development aid, so their live-soundengineer Emiel v/d Berg was given the part of bass-player. Freebird Records showed interest in releasing some Sand-tunes. Sand went back into the studio to record some of the catchier songs for a nice take-off. And thus Sand became a two-piece again.
Matthijs and Michiel, not satisfied with the end results of this short carrier, decided to remix the songs and let it rest for a while. They handled it over to Marcel v/d Vondervoort to redo the job, and he did a great thing with it.
But on a sad day, Sand discovered other band's called Sand. To avoid confusion they decided to change their name into "ELEPHANTUM".
At the end of summer 2002, Elephantum finally completes their line-up again with Han Schilder (bass) and Jan-Willem Bakker (drums). Being back in the rehearsal room, the band got really eager to start making serious future plans. As time went by, a perfect release date came in sight for both Elephantum and Freebird and at the end of 2002, Sedimentation finally sees the light of day Unfortunately, things didn't really work out as was hoped for and Elephantum parted ways with Jan-Willem.
After a short pause they got together with drummer Robert Koole and Elephantum finally got into the right form. They are now a stable line-up, ready to make their dreams come true: Making music on the verge of experimentalism...
